Since more than 25 million have jumped into the well-known Atkins diet and some other low-carb dietary plan, there might actually be an outbreak of bad breath in the coming days. That’s according to the National Marketing Institute.
While this may just sound funny to others, those who are suffering from bad breath definitely won’t take it lightly. Bad breath can affect your self-confidence and even your personal relationships and career. So why does this happen? How can lack of carbohydrates trigger foul mouth odor?
Here’s how: bad breath for no-carb eaters is caused by some chemicals, which are released into the breath when the body is in the fat-burning stage. These chemicals, which are known as ketones, are actually the “hallmark of Atkins diet”. Having stinky breath is an indicator that your low-carb diet is working.
