Soursop, or Annona Muricata, is a large fruit of a small fast growing tree native to the Central and South American countries. It belongs to the family of Annonaceae and is also a native of the sub saharan african countries. Today, this fruit is widely grown in some parts of Southeast Asia.

Furthermore, a recent study conducted at the Catholic University of South Korea stated that a certain chemical found in soursop can selectively kill colon cancer cells, and that the chemical is almost ten times more potent than Adriamycin. Adriamycin is a chemical agent used for chemotherapy. What is more remarkable is that contrary to the traditional chemotherapy that kills both cancer and normal cells, soursop only kills cancer cells and leaves healthy cells to grow normally. It is also known to spare cancer patients the side effects of chemotherapy such as hair loss, weight loss and nausea.
