Make Your Winter Sick-Proof

For some people, winter means skating, snowman, holidays, cross-country skiing, a cup of warm chocolate drink and snuggles with your loved one under the blankets. For others, it can also mean health problems. It’s not uncommon to catch a cold or any other viral infection during winter time. That is why, it’s imperative to make yourself more resistant to ailments so you can have a wonderful time during the cold winter season. Here are some ways on how to do just that.

Drink Warm Beverages
Even if you’re not a tea drinker, you’ll find that drinking warm tea (or any other warm beverage like chicken soup or chocolate) can help relieve symptoms of colds and flu. This is because these warm drinks loosen up the congestion and stimulate the flow of mucus. Liquids also help keep you hydrated. It’s a must to keep yourself hydrated even during the cold season when you don’t feel as thirsty as during the hot summer months.

Eat Plenty of Vitamin-C Rich Fruits
Have lots of oranges and grapefruits in your cupboard. Also feel free to munch on orange slices whenever you like. These fruits are packed with vitamin C that can help fight off various types of viruses. Do this as often as you can during the day.

Have Your Own Juice Bar
Speaking of fruits, if you’re not so much of a fan of eating fruits, you can just drink them. Buy a citrus juice and everytime you feel thirsty, transform orange slices into an antioxidant-rich fruit drink in just a matter of seconds. You don’t have to turn your fruits into a cold smoothie or else you’d feel colder. You can drink fruit juice warm and they’d still taste great.

Wash Your Hands, Take a Bath
The thing about cold season is that people seem like they don’t want anything to do with water anymore. Since it’s always freezing, as much as possible they’d like to stay under the comfort of their warm blankets. But this doesn’t give you a valid reason to skip baths or hand washing. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water as this is your first line of defense against viruses and bacteria. Take a warm bath often to keep yourself clean and healthy.
